A new project has been launched: “Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region”
Seven communities — Zelenodolsk, Petropavlivka, Ternivka, Shakhtarske, Mykolaivka, Verbkivka and Bohdanivka — are starting their journey towards greater energy efficiency and a wider use of renewable energy sources.
The project includes:
✅ Energy audits of seven socially important municipal facilities
✅ Development of energy-efficient solutions and project documentation to attract investments
✅ Training for energy managers and provision of “Energy Manager’s Toolkits”
✅ An educational campaign for more than 3,000 school students to promote a culture of energy saving
Who will benefit from the project?
♻️ Communities — through energy audits and ready-to-use investment solutions
♻️ Municipal institutions — by optimizing energy consumption and reducing costs
♻️ Energy managers — through training and practical tools
♻️ Young people and students — via an educational campaign on energy-saving culture
♻️ Local authorities — by strengthening strategic planning for sustainable development and energy independence
This is an important step for coal communities on their path to just transition and sustainable development.
The project is funded by the European Union through the Czech humanitarian organization People in Need and the NGO Екодія - центр екологічних ініціатив and is implemented by LR HUB – Centre for Economic Growth in partnership with the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
Stay tuned — soon we will share updates on the implementation process and the first results!
