An online seminar was held for residents of the Pavlohrad, Petropavlivka and Shakhtarske territorial communities, focusing on engaging local residents in the just transition processes of the region.
The Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine was represented at the event by Deputy Executive Director Oksana Tomashuk.
During her presentation, Oksana Tomashuk informed participants about the progress of developing the Draft Regional Just Transition Programme for the Coal Communities of Dnipropetrovsk Region until 2030. In particular, she outlined the key stages of the document’s preparation, its significance for the development of local communities, and the next steps in the programme development process.
Special attention was given to the importance of active participation by territorial communities in the work of the working group responsible for drafting the programme. Effective solutions that truly reflect the needs and priorities of Dnipropetrovsk’s coal communities can only be developed through active dialogue and the involvement of local authorities, businesses, civil society organisations, and residents.
We thank all participants for their active engagement and interest in shaping the future of their communities.
The event was organised by NGO “NOVA Energy” within the framework of the project “Residents’ Participation in the Just Transition of Communities in Dnipropetrovsk region”, implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
