Continuation of the Analytical Phase of the Project “Coal Communities of Ukraine: Strengthening Strategic Capacity on the Path to Just Transition”

A working meeting was held as part of the project “Coal Communities of Ukraine: Strengthening Strategic Capacity on the Path to Just Transition,” implemented with the financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation, during which the initial results of the analysis of community strategic documents were presented and discussed.

The focus was on reviewing key strategic and programmatic documents of three pilot communities – from recovery plans to investment instruments. The main objective is to assess their internal coherence and alignment with just transition approaches.

Project experts have developed preliminary practical recommendations that will enable communities to:

➡ strengthen the logic of strategic planning;

➡ improve alignment between documents;

➡ integrate the principles of energy efficiency, sustainable development, and just transition.

The results to date indicate that communities already have an established system of strategic documents; however, the transformation component requires further strengthening.

Upon completion of the analytical phase, the results and recommendations will be presented, serving as a basis for updating the communities’ strategic documents.
