Energy Awareness Lessons in Dnipropetrovsk Communities: Small Steps Toward an Energy-Efficient Future
As part of the project “Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region,” a series of interactive lessons for school students has been launched — focusing on rational energy use and modern technologies that help save resources.
The first to join the initiative was the Zelenodolsk community.
Students learned what energy efficiency and energy saving mean, discovered which “green” solutions already operate in Ukraine — from solar panels to wind turbines — and discussed how everyone can help reduce energy consumption at school and at home.
The participants actively joined the discussions, asked questions, and shared their own ideas for saving energy — from replacing light bulbs with LEDs to installing solar panels for educational institutions.
Similar lessons will soon take place in other communities — Ternivka and Bohdanivka.
The main goal of the initiative is to foster a conscious attitude toward the use of energy resources among students as a foundation of civic and environmental responsibility.
The project is funded by the European Union through the Czech humanitarian organization People in Need and the NGO Ecoaction – Centre for Environmental Initiatives. It is implemented by the Centre for Economic Growth LRHub in partnership with the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
