Energy Monitoring — the Key to Effective Energy Management in Communities
Today, participants learned how a systematic approach to energy monitoring helps communities plan, control, and optimize energy consumption during the online webinar on “Energy Monitoring as a Key Element of the Community Energy Management System.”
Speakers: – Mykhailo Melnyk, Energy Transition Expert at the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine – Nataliia Tokarchuk, Project and Program Management Specialist at the Ukrainian Non-Commercial Energy Agency
During the session, speakers shared practical insights on how to establish an effective energy monitoring system, track energy use in schools, hospitals, and administrative buildings, and apply the collected data to make informed decisions that reduce community expenses and improve management efficiency.
Why does it matter? Energy monitoring is not just about collecting numbers — it is a strategic tool for managing community resources. It helps identify excessive energy use, assess the effectiveness of energy-saving measures, and enhance the overall energy efficiency of municipal infrastructure.
The knowledge gained will help communities develop and implement effective energy management systems that contribute to sustainable local development and the well-being of residents.
The event was held as part of the Energy Transition Project for Ukraine’s Coal Communities, implemented by the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ukrainian Non-Commercial Energy Agency.
