Kamianets-Podilskyi: A Successful Experience in Distributed Generation for Energy Independence
In Kamianets-Podilskyi, located in the Khmelnytskyi region, an efficient network of distributed generation has been successfully established. This allows city to supply not only its heating and water supply facilities with its own electricity but also social infrastructure and even street lighting. This success is largely due to the significant portion of electricity generated by cogeneration plants.

Now, Kamianets-Podilskyi is sharing its positive experience with representatives of communities that are dependent on coal mining or coal-fired power plants.
"For communities whose heating systems still depend on coal-fired CHPs and TPPs, distributed generation is a matter of survival during the upcoming heating season. Therefore, it is very important that these communities have the opportunity to adopt effective mechanisms for implementing distributed generation and minimizing risks along the way. We will continue to closely cooperate with the authorities of Kamianets-Podilskyi on issues of heating decentralization," stated Andriy Tabinskyy, the head of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
