Kick-off meeting of the Cross-Border Renewable Energy Acceleration Project in Ukraine
Representatives of the Association took part in kick-off meeting of the Cross-Border Renewable Energy Acceleration Project in Ukraine.
The project is being implemented by the Energy Community Secretariat in cooperation with the European Climate Foundation and focuses on fostering cross-border cooperation between Ukraine, EU Member States, and Moldova.
The project aims to support Ukraine in the establishment of Renewable Energy Acceleration Zones (REAZ) that comply with EU standards, promote cross-border collaboration in the renewable energy sector, enhance energy security, and contribute to sustainable development.
Five key regions are in focus: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, and Vinnytsia. These areas are strategically located along the borders with EU Member States and Moldova, enabling both domestic coordination and cross-border alignment.
Planning cross-border renewable energy development zones can also serve as a catalyst for creating new economic areas, developing low-impact industrial zones, and, as a result, generating new jobs and strengthening cooperation and trade at both interregional and international levels.
The continued success and development of the project will require the active engagement of national and regional authorities, investors, civil society, and international partners.
Ukraine’s green transition is a collective endeavor—grounded in transparency, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
