Meeting of the Working Group on the Development of the Action Plan for the Just Transition of the Chervonohrad Coal Microregion until 2030
Coal communities in Ukraine are actively implementing processes of a just transition today, particularly by developing and carrying out various projects that not only create new jobs and generate budget revenues but also strengthen the country's energy capacity and have a positive impact on the environment.
Today, a working group meeting was held in Lviv to develop an Action Plan for the just transition of the Chervonohrad coal micro-region until 2030. During the event, project proposals prepared by representatives of the micro-region's communities were presented and evaluated.
The event was held with the support of the project "Just Transition of Coal Regions and Green Recovery of Ukraine's Energy Sector," implemented in Ukraine by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany (BMWK).
"A total of 107 applications were submitted, which we thoroughly reviewed and evaluated based on key criteria such as energy transition potential, environmental impact, job creation, economic benefits, impact on the quality of life for residents, and the justification of project costs. The projects that received the highest scores will be included in the Action Plan for the just transition of the Chervonohrad coal micro-region," stated Andriy Tabinskyy, the head of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
