Memorandum of Cooperation Signed in Cagliari

Within the framework of the international conference “The Energy Transition in the World: Scenarios, Policies & Strategies”, held in Cagliari, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine and the Sotacarbo Research Centre (Sardinia, Italy).

The Memorandum envisages cooperation in the areas of energy transition and the socio-economic transformation of former coal regions. In particular, it focuses on the exchange of expertise, analytical insights, and best European practices in developing economies based on renewable energy sources and the principles of sustainable development.

For the Association, this partnership is an important step toward adapting European experience to the specific needs of Ukrainian coal communities, which are currently undergoing a just transition amid ongoing energy challenges.

Cooperation with Sotacarbo provides access to practical approaches and proven solutions that have demonstrated their effectiveness in the just transition of coal regions. Such experience is particularly valuable for Ukraine as it shapes its own transformation pathway.
