Memorandums of cooperation between member communities of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine and partner cities from abroad

During the Forum "Just Transition of Coal Communities of Ukraine", memorandums of cooperation were signed between member communities of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine and partner cities from abroad.
Specifically, Olena Kasianchuk, head of the Lytovezh community in Volyn region, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German city of Saerbeck, and Borys Karpus, head of Novovolynsk, signed one with Petroshani, Romania.
Borys Karpus expressed hope that the cooperation would be beneficial for communities in both countries. "We will work on joint projects in the field of alternative energy sources, infrastructure development, and addressing environmental issues resulting from mining operations," stated the head of Novovolynsk.
The Executive Director of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine, Andriy Tabinskyy, emphasized that the Association is currently seeking partner cities for each coal-dependent community. "European cities that have followed the path of fair transformation serve as valuable examples from which we draw experience and long-standing practices. Their communities have often faced—or continue to face—the same economic, environmental, and social challenges as coal-dependent settlements in our country. Through comprehensive cooperation and close communication with international partners at the local level, we will be able to achieve positive changes much faster," stated Andriy Tabinskyy.
