Presentation of the ROOTS Grant Programme for Coal Communities in Lviv and Volyn Regions
The team of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine participated in the presentation of the ROOTS grant programme, “Regional Opportunities for Just Transition and Sustainable Development.”
The programme aims to support just transition projects in coal communities across Lviv and Volyn regions. Its objective is to strengthen community energy resilience, diversify local economies, and enhance the capacity of local self-government authorities.
During the event, participants received detailed information about the competition guidelines, the application procedure, and practical recommendations on preparing high-quality project proposals.
“Today, representatives of coal communities had the opportunity to strengthen their competencies in developing projects capable of securing funding and delivering tangible change. The ROOTS programme promotes a systemic approach to just transition by supporting initiatives that generate long-term benefits for local residents,” said Andriy Tabinskyy, CEO of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
Under the competition, grants ranging from UAH 3 to 5 million are available for projects with a duration of 6–12 months in the fields of energy, economic development, reskilling, environmental protection, and infrastructure modernisation. Eligible applicants include local self-government bodies, municipal institutions, development agencies, and civil society organisations.
