Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region: energy audits
Within the project “Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region,” energy audits have been carried out for socially important public buildings.
It’s the first stage of project implementation, crucial for local residents.
What is an energy audit?
It is a detailed “check-up” of a building that shows where and how energy is being lost, offers solutions for saving resources and provides communities with practical tools for future modernization.
As a result of the audit, experts identify:
– critical areas of heat and electricity loss;
– the causes of these losses;
– a list of energy efficiency measures with projected savings of resources and costs.
Within the project, energy audits have already been conducted for:
– Pavlohrad and Ternivka Central Hospitals;
– Shakhtarske City Hospital;
– Petropavlivka Central Hospital;
– Bohdanivka Gymnasium and Zelenodolsk Lyceum No. 2;
– Mykolaivka Kindergarten No. 2 “Berezka.”
The next step is the energy efficiency certification of buildings — an official process that determines and confirms a building’s energy performance class and results in the issuance of a certificate registered in the state database.
This will enable communities to make informed decisions and attract investments for future thermal modernization.
The project is funded by the European Union through the Czech humanitarian organization "People in Need" and the NGO "Екодія - центр екологічних ініціатив" and is implemented by LR HUB – Centre for Economic Growth in partnership with the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
