Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region: feasibility studies
Within the project “Supporting the Energy Resilience of Coal Communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region,” following the completion of energy audits and building certification, preliminary feasibility studies (FS) were carried out to identify optimal solutions for improving energy efficiency.
Feasibility studies were conducted for socially important facilities in three communities:
– Mykolaivka Kindergarten “Berizka” – a feasibility study was developed for the installation of a 10 kW solar power plant with an energy storage system. This solution will ensure partial energy autonomy of the facility, saving around 9,600 kWh per year and reducing costs by more than UAH 82,000 annually.
– Zelenodolsk Lyceum No. 2 – a feasibility study was developed for modernizing the lighting system. The plan includes a complete replacement of existing lighting with energy-efficient LED fixtures and automated control. This will reduce electricity consumption by 60–70% and improve learning conditions.
– Shakhtarske City Hospital – a feasibility study was prepared for the installation of an individual heating substation (IHS), which will allow more efficient heat regulation, lower heating costs, and improve comfort for patients.
The documents include calculated data on energy savings, payback periods, and the required investment volumes — helping communities determine their modernization priorities.
The project is funded by the European Union through the Czech humanitarian organization People in Need and the NGO Ecoaction. It is implemented by the NGO Center for Economic Growth LRHub in partnership with the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine.
