The Association presented the Practical Guide on Updating Community Strategic Documents in the Context of Just Transition
During the online presentation, we discussed how communities can already begin integrating the challenges and opportunities of the just transition into planning their future development.
The Guide was developed to help communities incorporate just transition priorities into their strategic and programme documents and link them to concrete decisions for local development.
It is based on an analysis of the strategic and programme documents of the Sheptytskyi, Sokal and Novovolynsk territorial communities. The approaches and recommendations developed through this work can also be useful for other coal communities across Ukraine.
For this reason, representatives of other coal communities that are members of the Association also joined the presentation. It is important to us that the experience gained through our work with these three communities is shared more widely and supports other communities in planning their own transformation pathways.
We want every coal community to have not only a vision for its future, but also a clear understanding of how to move towards it step by step. We hope this Guide will become one of the practical tools that helps communities turn strategic priorities into tangible change.
The Guide was developed by the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine in cooperation with the NGO Civil Society Development Forum.
The Practical Guide was developed within the project “Coal Communities of Ukraine: Strengthening Strategic Capacity on the Path towards a Just Transition,” implemented by the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
