The “Ghosts of the Shtetls” tourist route is now on “Mandrui Ukrainoiu” platform

 The “Ghosts of the Shtetls” tourist route is now featured on the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine’s national tourism platform, “Mandrui Ukrainoiu”.

The Ghosts of the Shtetls is a two-day journey of approximately 200 km, taking visitors through Lviv, Zhovkva, Velyki Mosty, Sheptytskyi, Sokal, and Belz. For centuries, Jewish communities in these towns played a vital role in shaping the region’s economic, religious, and social life, leaving behind a remarkable cultural heritage.

The route uncovers lesser-known chapters of the history of the shtetls while introducing visitors to the region’s rich Jewish religious and cultural heritage.

At the same time, it draws attention to communities that are currently undergoing a just transition, showcasing their tourism, cultural, and economic potential.

The Ghosts of the Shtetls route was initiated by the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine in partnership with the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

Being featured on the “Mandrui Ukrainoiu” platform marks an important step in promoting the route at the national level. It will enable even more Ukrainians and international visitors to discover the lesser-known history of Northern Lviv Region, while providing local communities with new opportunities to showcase their cultural heritage and strengthen sustainable tourism development.

We believe that The Ghosts of the Shtetls will inspire more people to discover these communities from a new perspective communities that are shaping their future while preserving the memory of their past.
