Working visit to Ladyzhyn territorial community in Vinnytsia region

Across Ukraine, coal territorial communities and communities dependent on thermal power plants continue their path of just transition. Moreover, today's war highlights the need to significantly accelerate the transition of communities to alternative heating and electricity sources.

A similar situation has arisen in Ladyzhyn territorial community in Vinnytsia region, where the head of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine, Andriy Tabinskyy, and the advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Valentyna Moskalenko paid a working visit. The community has long been dependent on the operation of the Ladyzhyn Thermal Power Plant, which provided the main budget revenues, as well as heat and electricity supply.

The community was one of the first in the country to start installing alternative heating sources. In 2022-2023, solid fuel and gas boilers were installed, providing about 20 MW of alternative heating in case the thermal power plant fails or is hit again. Over 80 million UAH from the local budget has been allocated for this project.

So, during the visit, together with the head of Ladyzhyn territorial community, Oleksandr Kolomiyets, they inspected the alternative heating network facilities and identified the need for additional equipment. Currently, there is an urgent need for cogeneration units, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the boilers during the upcoming heating season.

The Ladyzhyn territorial community is also a good example of successful social partnership with business. Thanks to the environmental tax paid by the Ladyzhyn Thermal Power Plant, a large recreation park was built in the city, where numerous events are held, including the International Wooden Sculpture Festival.

The community also has the Open Space for Civic Development, which focuses on attracting grants for social projects. They have agreed to continue close cooperation, with the Association actively assisting in writing and submitting grant applications for local small and medium-sized businesses.
