Discussed the prospects of just transition of coal communities in Lviv and Volyn regions
An important meeting, an active discussion, and great news.
In Chervonohrad, a meeting dedicated to the processes of just transition of the coal communities of Lviv and Volyn regions took place.
The discussions included the participation of Miriam Faulwetter, director of the "Just transition of Coal Regions and Green Recovery of Ukraine's Energy Sector" project from GIZ, Andriy Tabinskyy, executive director of the Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine, representatives of regional and district state administrations, local communities, and public organizations.
Just transition of Lviv and Volyn regions has turned into a powerful process in a relatively short period of time, involving representatives of central and local authorities, the public, businesses, and international partners. Today's meeting showed that although the war and the destruction of the energy system present unprecedented challenges, new creative solutions are also emerging. There are difficulties, but there are also results and progress, and most importantly, the readiness of all participants in this process to move in the same direction, jointly solve problems, and work on mistakes."
We are sincerely grateful for the support and cooperation of our international partners, especially the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), which has long stood by our side.
“I was extremely pleased to hear from Ms. Miriam Faulwetter today that the "Just transition of Coal Regions and Green Recovery of Ukraine's Energy Sector" project has been extended for another three years. That means more investment in coal mining communities, more implemented and initiated projects, more jobs and educational programs, more opportunities for professional growth and development," stated his thoughts and impressions Andriy Tabinskyy.
